Prayer for the Full Moon

Your silver disk will light the entire night;
none of the night will be turned over to the dark.
Even as your soft light guides my path tonight,
may your gentle influence spread softly through my life.

2 - I pour out milk to the Queen of Heaven,

the Mother of Wonders, shingin tonight.

The pool that it forms mirrors you here

as you look down on me.

Accept this milk as a thank you for all that you give so freely.

Prayers for the Dark Moon

1 - It will be a dark night indeed,

for, even though the stars give what light they can,

it comes from far away, and is scattered and spent when it falls on the Earth.

Where is the light that comes from nearer,

from our own world's companion, our own world's sister?

She hides from us tonight.

Tonight there will be no Moon.

Tonight we will have no companion to guide us through the darkness.

But though we cannot see you, you live in our hearts.

Strengthen us in the darkness:

is that not what darkness is for?

2 - Dark Queen:

from time that is dark

bring back the light to my world.

Prayers for the New Moon

1 - Out of the bright sky, as the Sun goes down,

appears the Maiden who rules the darkness.

I pray to her, my eyes facing West

at the end of the day,

at the beginning of the month.

You will not be here with us long;

you dance quickly toward the horizon.

While you are still with us, though,

I will look on you with love.

Hope in the West, prophet of return from darkness:

you show us it is possible to go from age into the shadowland

and emerge, new yet the same.

2 - From out of the brightness, the Maiden appears,

dancer, singer, seducer, scattering flowers.

From out of the darkness, the Maiden appears,

dancer, singer, seducer, scattering flowers.

Pruning sickle, encourage new growth,

dance and sing and seduce

and scatter your flowers over the Earth.

Prayers for the Waning Moon

1 - The Old Woman takers her place

in the early morning

in the dome of the sky.

Though guardian of the darkness

and though yourself of advanced age,

you are yet the prophet of the Sun,

promising his imminent rebirth.

Old One, Wise One, Crone of the East,

Anna, I look on you with reverence

and praise you in the moments before dawn.

2 - You gathered light into a ball

and now you unravel it again.

Soon it will be gone and we will face the dark.

But we know it will end in the proper time,

because you are the Lord of the Right MEasure

and you always do what has been laid down for oyu.
