Join Gael Figueroa, the Academic Witch, for an introduction to the history of the witch. How did social heresy contribute to the witch-hunting craze? Rebellious women, healers, the poor or disabled, and the elderly constituted marginalized populations that challenged the order of society during the instability of the Reformation. We will review case studies of both groups and individual women accused of rebelling against God and country, and the men in power who worked to control or, when all else failed, eradicate them.
